  1. Yeah, I kept getting an error message when I tried to visit and I thought you might have ‘sploded or something. Whew!

And I’m still on Blogger. Does that reduce my coolness?

  2. Oh, BTW,

I’m still trying to pick a book or two for you. How do you feel about Terry Prachett? Have you read any Discworld books? If so, which ones are you lacking?

I’m betting his sense of humor would work well for you.

  3. If Discworld is the series with Rincewind, then I read the first book. (Color of magic or something like that?)

I haven’t read any others in the series. I did enjoy the first one though. It’s been several years, I might have to reread it to refresh my memory though.

And as far as which ones I have? None. I don’t even think I have that first one. Maybe I borrowed it from someone. (Oh, actually, I think it may have been an audio book, in which case I might still have it somewhere)

  4. Oooh! You’re so getting some Discworld goodness. I’ll have to decide which, but I’ll make it one that I have in hardback.

And, you don’t have to read them in order. You just sort of accumulate knowledge of who the various characters are who just keep drifting in and out of stories. I’m not even sure there really is a chronological order.

  5. OMG. Series with no set order drive me batty. (Well, battier)

Are you SURE they don’t benefit from a reading order? It will kill me if I do it wrong. I’m all OCD about that kinda thing. I still haven’t read a Charles Stross book because I don’t know which book to read first. (I even emailed him, and he was no help.)

Finding out Star Wars started at episode 4 still haunts me… 🙂

  6. Wiki has a suggested order (sort of, since there’s a few books that are classified as YA). If you want, I’ll send you whatever’s at the head of their list. Let me know.

Or, if you’re terrified of reading out of order, I’ll send you something totally else. But I’ve gotta say, Pratchett is terrific.

  7. Well, I’d say that Hogfather should definitely not be early in the ordering. But so far Color of Magic, Thud!, and Going Postal have worked well for me.

I blame Anne for all this recent Pratchett talk. 😉

  8. Publication date doesn’t really dictate where they fall within the series. There are books which let major characters from other books drop in for a brief cameo and vice versa.

I think I’ll look for one of the ones that concentrate on “The Watch”. They’re among my favorite characters.

  9. I like The WordPress. I’m refusing to upgrade for awhile. I’m about to travel and I know the second I upgrade it, my site will be down the entire time I’m on the road. Heaven forbid my fans be without charliebirthchild.com for an entire week. 😉
