In Which I Fall Into A Portal

Those of you concerned that I died from cinnamon poisoning, fear not, I’m still kickin’. I also still like cinnamon, which is a plus. The past few days have been overwhelmingly busy, and to make a busy couple days even worse — Kate Baker introduced me to Portal.

This introduction had several side effects:

  1. I now know what a companion cube is.
  2. I now understand the overly stated, “The cake is a lie.” (I never knew what that was about)
  3. I lost 2 days of my life. Because the game is addictive, fun, and time consuming.

So, thanks Kate! I mean that both seriously, and sarcastically. πŸ˜€

  1. My youngest is spending his lawnmowing money to build a PC just so he can play Portal. (he has a Mac Powerbook). The flash version just isn’t cool enough.

And yes, we mowed our lawn for the first time yesterday here in the Emerald City. Sigh.

  2. Shawn, after my computer problems of a few weeks ago, all my Steam games were gone. This weekend I logged back into Steam and they’re all still there, including Portal, which I saw my nephews play over Christmas, and which I subsequently added to my HL2 set of games. I still haven’t played Portal myself, but I feel it coming on…

  3. I read Stephen at Live Grenades, and he had a post about how to make a companion cube out of a Rubik’s Cube. I had no idea what he was talking about, but the comments were insane.

I am purposely avoiding Portal, because I don’t need another time suck, and everyone seems to love it.
